
This table began with an idea to make a piece which would fit in at an art gallery, not necessarily as an exhibit, but as a functional piece which blends in with the art around it. After a few design iterations the curved, sculpted base was imagined.
The table is built entirely out of a locally sourced black walnut slab with the live edge facing inward, creating a sapwood river running between two dark, black walnut banks.
The base is made from the same slab and hand carved on the inside and out to create the smooth lines which naturally taper into the top to create a cohesive piece.
